"Above Feldthurns, near Schnauders, lies the Thalerhof - here wood comes to life. Either in the 11 hectares of forest belonging to the Thalerhof or in the workshop on the farm is where the woodcarver Herbert Kerschbaumer spends most of his time. What fascinates him about carving is that you can create something incredible out of an inconspicuous piece of wood. The sculptor learned his craft in Val Gardena, the cradle of South Tyrolean woodcarving. Today he particularly enjoys working with old wood and root wood, from which he creates lively figures.
